Master TikTok for storytellers with Marie Mbullu
TikTok has become an influential platform that’s no longer just about funny videos. It has launched careers for its top creators like Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo and is even recognized by media leaders and publishers as a key platform for reaching Gen Z audiences.
Most importantly, it has given creators who are passionate about telling alternative stories about their communities, countries, and continents a voice.
Among them is Tanzanian American student Marie Mbullu. “From a young age, I wanted to change the narrative,” she says, “Then I found TikTok.”
Her platform, Habari Njema, covers “everything Africa from politics to pop culture” with a twist: she shares alternative news and commentary that showcases Africa beyond stereotypes of poverty, disease, corruption, poor leadership, and conflict. Habari Njema has more than 665 000 followers and 20 million views.
Join the Africa No Filter Academy Presents: Master TikTok with Marie Mbullu masterclass to learn how you can find your voice as a creator, the dos and don’ts of building an influential platform, and how Mbullu turned her passion - telling better stories about Africa - into an influential media platform.
